Quakefans presented its first ever Quake Champions KOTH Duel Tournament! With Smango paying out of his OWN pocket a $10 Amazon Gift Card!!!
Full KOTH Duel Tournament VOD
You can watch the full KOTH Duel Tournament down below on the YouTube Channel. This was a live stream which was available also on Twitch. It is uncut and unedited!
Unkind from State of Quake went 3 – 2 and stayed king the second longest of the tournament.
That was until Aaronx86 showed up and showed everyone who was boss, including the High Flying #1 Athena player Hailstorm.
Overall the tournament was an absolute blast to host and I would love to do more in the future!
If you want to help out be sure to join up in Discord so we can discuss maybe some future events and maybe a bigger prize pool going.

Aaron when 5 – 0 during the KOTH Tournament, defeating Unkind Twice, and HailstormTTV Twice. He also faced moss to moss once on Awoken.
I was expecting a Pro to show up at any time and request to join… maybe in the future who knows? Many folks were looking forward to Quakecon 2020 but if you’ve lived 1 second in the year 2020. You’ve already realized that Quakecon was in jeopardy of happening because of COVID-19.
Katowice being our first event being affected. The Contestants still competed but without an Audience.
Quake, unfortunately, wasn’t the only game affected. Many other games at the Katowice event
Quakecon 2020 Official Statement
Below is the official statement from Quakecon.
Quakecon in 2019 which turned into DoomCon and Doom Eternal didn’t even release that year… was already disappointing. It’s been a rough few years for all of us Quakefans. Nothing against Doom, I love Doom almost as much as I do Quake, but this was supposed to be a big year for Quake.
Quakecon and the Quake Pro League?
What does this mean for the Quake Pro League Finals you might ask. Looks like they will finish the Season 3 finals online and as for Season 4, it is still to be determined.
As the majority of us are forced to stay at home and work. This is at least good news that the Quake Pro League is continuing, and gives us something to watch.
The year 2020 is off to a really rocky start. Nothing has been good news at all this year. Luckily in this day and age, we are able to somewhat have live eSport content delivered directly to our screens.
Quakecon 2020 Conclusion
I’ve never been to Quakecon but it doesn’t look like that’s going to change anytime soon. If there is any light in this time of darkness, its that we can still enjoy some online content.
You should join me tomorrow over on the YouTube Channel for the Quakefans Radio. We can talk about the cancellation of Quakecon this year together.
Everyone stay safe, follow me on Twitter, and be sure to wash those hands.
The Diabotical Closed Beta weekend is upon us and I got to spend a full Friday Night testing out the game.
Luckily I was handed a key directly from the Developers and also got my hands on a few extra keys for some of my friends and followers.
In this article, I’ll cover the issues and what I think of Diabotical in its current beta state. Please remember that this game is IN BETA but I do want to address the issues I had.
Since this article the game has been released and you can try it out yourself COMPLETELY FREE.
Diabotical Beta Gameplay and More
All the game modes are not available. But the ones that are, are extremely fun.
These are my thoughts on all the modes that I got to try out. I did try to make a map and I guess it is available… but I wasn’t able to figure out how to get started.
I believe wee bow instagib is a great spin on the traditional 1-shot 1-kill game mode most of us are accustomed too. It’s not a direct shot and kill, you have to lead your shot. I believe this is because it is a bolt instead of a single rail (the railgun still exists just not in this mode). The player spawns with a left-handed explosive wee-ball as well. You can use this to bounce yourself or your opponent into the air.
Be sure to collect your enemy’s tag so you can count it as a frag. I was only able to play this mode in a 1v1 which I will get into later.
Wipeout is the mode that everyone is excited about. It’s Diaboticals spin on the traditional clan arena game mode that is famous in quake games.
Instead of being completely left out if your team starts getting kills you can get enough kills to bring back some of your dead teammates!
Each teammate can spawn with a different wee-ball one that shields, heals, or does something wacky.
Diabotical Arena is meant to be played in a 1v1 or 2v2 setting. The maps are smaller and it feels more like the traditional clan arena but instead of 1 life, you get 2.
You also spawn on your 2nd life with a left-handed wee-ball which you can use to gain a small advantage if used correctly.
This mode lets us do all kinds of crazy things as well. I was able to play rockets and only shafts.
We ended up somehow getting a 53 round game going with tons of people.
The Diabotical Closed Beta Live Stream
You can watch the full Quakefans Live Stream from the very beginning of starting Diabotical until the last match that crashed!
Started by building/designing my Eggbot to ending it with a crazy 53 Arena Mode with almost 10 people!
It was CRAZY.
Live Diabotical Gameplay
In this video, you can find Diabotical Gameplay and what it was like to play the Closed Beta back in February 2020. Not a ton has changed since the official release of Diabotical.
Problems with the Diabotical Closed Beta
As expected the game didn’t launch perfectly. Which is expected in a Closed Beta.
I just want to address some of the issues I faced while trying to play the game. 2GD and crew addressed most of these during the day and were pushing out updates extremely fast. The most common one was Matchmaking just wasn’t working.
The servers well, they didn’t really work. I was able to set up a game using the Dallas servers but wasn’t able to do it with NA-East ever. 80% of the time that didn’t work either. So it was best to make a match using Dallas or do a Direct/LAN.
Using a direct/lan with a party would start the game but not bring your party with you or the lobby. There were several times I would be in-game while the lobby was still sitting there doing nothing. Never starting the game.
While in-game it never would show how many people were in the game either. People joined but I never could tell when or who joined or who was even on separate teams. Another issue was that the scoreboard never worked either.
Every time the game would freeze probably from an update push. It would completely lock the game. I wasn’t able to launch task manager using my keyboard shortcuts, I had to go to start and type in task manager. Thus, forcing the game to close.
Save your settings first by logging out after doing so…
This resulted in me losing my settings every time, including my egg bot design and mouse settings. My suggestion is before you do anything. Is get the eggbot you want and settings before trying to play the closed beta as it might close at any second.
The Server browser also never would load a game. But, like I said there were several server issues on-going Friday night. All the games still to this day do appear to be in a warmup state and never updates from what I’ve seen.
Diabotical Closed Beta was great. The game plays EXTREMELY smooth and runs great.
There really wasn’t much I could complain about other than I could play as much as I would have liked due to the server issues. This, of course, will be handled very quickly if not already. I’ve heard the game compared to Overwatch or quake for kids many times.
Call it or compare it to whatever you want. The game is a great addition to the Arena FPS genre in my opinion and I’ll be spending plenty of time with Diabotical in the future and on this website.

QPL Lucca 2019 The Quake Champions event is officially over. There were a few things that went on during the event that you might not be aware of. The Quake contenders competed in a huge Catherdral in Italy it was an awesome site to see!
The true tale was the challenger Cypher and what he set out to accomplish.
Cypher not only earned his spot by taking out Myztro’s Garphy BUT went on to win more matches than just 1! He took out the #1 QPL Contender Rapha and making it all the way to the SEMI-FINALS! The Rivalry continues…
North America did not perform
The boys in NA didn’t perform well at all. I’m from the USA so of course, I’m pulling for my home country.
Needless to say, I was very disappointed with how everything turned out. With the HUGE upset with Cypher taking out Rapha in Rapha’s first match all weekend! Shocked and disappointed I gathered myself and decided I needed to pick a new warrior from NA. Too bad PsyGib and Dahang ended up losing their matches as well.
The NA didn’t even cross in the Semi-Final Territory for sports fans out there, they didn’t make it to the Elite 8 (NCAA Basketball). Normally the Final Four are the best quake players around.
So the European’s really showed that the NA really needs to play catch-up after this tournament’s showing.
Cooller Took Over QPL Lucca 2019
Cooller was just completely unstoppable. I didn’t see a chink in his armor the whole entire tournament.
I thought that Rasiey was going to be able to take him down in the championship but I was 110% wrong. Basically, sweeping everyone that came into his path. Cooller proved that us older gentlemen can still compete with the youngsters.
It was good to see a Quake legend like Cooller claim a championship in the latest version of Quake. I believe the next “Quake Pro-file” will be over the Lucca 2019 Champion, Cooller.
Congratulations on the big W!
If you somehow missed the QPL Lucca 2019 event then you can probably still watch the VOD over on twitch. I’m assuming if that doesn’t work if you ever read this, they will have it up on the official Quake YouTube channel.
The event had great quake action and it is great to see some new blood from the Challenger’s League step up. If there are 2 stories you should take away from this. It’s that all the Challengers took the spots in the pro roster and a living Quake Legend name Cooller, showed these youngsters how to play quake.
I really hope the NA guys get to practicing hard as we got a whole new stage leading to another event very soon!
